In vino veritas, says the old Latin proverb which ideally matches our The World of Graševina project completed and presented in February, and with which Croatia has, for the first time, gained a strategic plan in the development of a wine destination. The client is Požega-Slavonia County and the town of Kutjevo, and under the brand The World of Graševina we developed a unique project which introduces visitors insightfully and sensually to the vineyards of Slavonia and Podunavlje, getting to know them by the indigenous wine sorts of this region.

The World of Graševina is special because over three locations – Kutjevo, Pleternica and Pakrac the area develops three networked interpretive approaches. In Kutjevo it is the House of Graševina as a starting point that directs visitors, educates and invites them to explore the authentic attractions of wine tourism: the vineyards, wineries and cellars. The World of Graševina informative centre in Pleternica is connected to the Museum of Bećarac and the dance centre, which will present winemaking in folklore. In Pakrac in the building of the Spahija cellar from the 18th century, protected as a cultural asset, a visitor’s centre will be located visitors where graševina and the traditions of coopery will be promoted.

Anyway, in a barrel, bottle or glass, to use the words of the great connoisseur of wine Bela Hamvas: “wine brings back our original live, to paradise and shows us the place we will arrive at the end of the global feast.” The World of Graševina is in this sense a call – to return to the feast.
