How to reconcile the negative effects of “overtourism” by safeguarding the “spirit of place” and the heritage of natural and cultural landscapes, historical cities and monuments? You will be able to find answers to these questions at the international interdisciplinary conference ‘PROCEED WITH CARE’ from 2 May to 5 May 2019 in Šibenik.

About the Proceed with Care conference

The conference will bring together key experts, researchers and theorists, practitioners and students from the field of architecture, urban and spatial planning, the protection of natural and cultural heritage, cultural tourism, heritage interpretation and presentation, museology, sociology, anthropology, cultural theories, communication sciences and economy. The latest research, strategies, examples of good practices and techniques await for you in the form of:

  • 18 presentations by key experts from seven countries
  • 45 reviewed author’s expositions
  • 3 dynamic question and answer panels
  • several guided tours and excursions

The conference will create an international interdisciplinary and intersectoral platform that will open up the possibility of comparing, confronting and revising various research and worldwide practices. In this way it will enable the dissemination and exchange of knowledge and experience as well as the evaluation and implementation of the most successful solutions in order to reduce or avoid the negative impact of “overtourism”.

The language of the conference is English.
