Meštrović's Mark in Croatia
On the very day of the 66th anniversary of the death (16th January) of the greatest Croatian genius of sculpture Ivan Meštrović we began a new inspirational and challenging project for Museums of Ivan Meštrović, together with our partners Prireda d.o.o. and Studio Šesnić & Turković.
Our field tour began in the village of Otavice in Dalmatinska zagora (Dalmatian hinterland) where Meštrović spent his childhood, and ended in Split where we visited the Meštrović’s Crikvine-Kaštilac estate and the Meštrović Gallery - the family's former Split address.
We were deeply inspired by the extraordinary professional guided tour of senior curator Zorana Jurić Šabić and the whole team led by director Sandra Grčić Budimir, whilst the ambience, architecture, nature, and above all the experience of the works of this original artistic genius are a powerful motivation that with combined creative and professional strengths we provide our contribution to the spread and reception of Meštrović and his works in Croatia and the world.
Following that, we also held the first mapping workshop from which the process is beginning in making a communications strategy, branding and positioning of the Museum of Ivan Meštrović in Croatia and the world.
The next step is to visit the Meštrović Atelier in Zagreb where we are planning to hold another workshop!
