Educational workshop of heritage interpretation

Come to Ogulin, learn how to interpret heritage and revive the cultural and natural values of your own homeland!

Is there a better place for holding a workshop about the interpretation of cultural and natural heritage than Ogulin, a town which has become the European homeland of fairy tales thanks to the fact that Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić found inspiration for writing her celebrated ‘Croatian Tales of Long Ago’ right here in the magical landscape of the town where she was born.

The three-day workshop has been organised by the visitor centre of Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales, the Croatian Association for Heritage Interpretation and Muses Ltd. The workshop has been designed for tourist guides, museologists, curators, nature wardens, leaders of tourist associations, leaders of tourist agencies, employees of interpretation centres and all those who wish to develop excellence and effectiveness in the interpretation of Croatian natural and cultural heritage.

The aim of the workshop is the professionalization and development of the field, in two ways. In the theoretical part top speakers and experts from the field of heritage interpretation, interpretive planning and cultural tourism will talk about the definition of heritage interpretation, its main principles, role and significance in the cultural, economic and social development of a community. In the practical part, participants will clearly see how interpretation is by no means the simple presentation of facts, but principally a captivating and intriguing game with innumerable significances in heritage, as well as by individual example/case/model.

The participation fee for the workshop is 650 kn for members of the Croatian Association for Heritage Interpretation, and 850 kn for non-members. For more information about the programme, speakers and workshop registration please contact the association by e-mail or download the official workshop invitation.

Do you love your homeland? Are you proud of your town? Do you want what you feel to transform into story about identity and share it with others? Send us your thoughts, your questions and suggestions and we will help you so that with our combined forces we form a unique fragment for a mosaic of the heritage of Croatia!
